At the Building Selection Centre we were looking for a forward thinking designer builder that could produce a practical commercial showroom that would be stunning to look at.

We had a multi national company that was interested in taking office space and Craig inspired us all with his conceptual ideas and 3D computer generated designs.

Craig designed and built the whole project so that no architects were necessary, thereby saving us considerable expense.

I would recommend Craig without hesitation to anyone who wanted a stand-out complicated project for a reasonable price.

B. Hedges

In my capacity as Chief Architect and Project Manager for the Bahai Centre of Learning Project I had the opportunity to work with Mr Craig Doran. Craig was responsible for some of the critical stages of the prefabrication of the main dome on the auditorium (which seats 300 people), the sequence of ifs construction and development of its complex detailing.

Craig and his team fabricated the structural ring beam at the Apex of the dome, and supervised the sub-contract for the production of the lower ring-beam and integrated all the required details and coordination of the complex curved geometry
.
In addition to this the first of the 18 timber dome sections. with its central 9m box-beam. was constructed by Craig. The prototype and first of it's kind the project presented many significant challenges which Craig and his team easily overcame.

The geometry and setout was highly complex, with very precise tolerances

Craig supervised his team and carefully met all these requirements. He also produced the jig required to produce all the dome components, in itself another mini project.

Craig and his team also produced and installed all the curved structural box-beams to the Southern-wing building on the same project. and assisted the main contractor with vanous aspects of the structural concrete work_ including suspended slabs. boxing and reinforcing, coordination of the sequence of construction on site and establishing an efficient on-site workshop facility.

Craig also canned out many other tasks, structural and non-structural in relation to his sub-contract too numerous to list here.

I personally sourced Craig for work on this project, and in doing so 1 had the opportunity to visit some of his other projects and speak to him at length regarding his knowledge and experience.

Craig is a multi-talented person with a great degree of skill and capacity in both construction and design with a particular flair for expressing natural materials. intricate details and integrating these with energy efficient and ecological building considerations. I had not come across another builder in Hobart with this range of diverse skills and knowledge in one person and this was the reason we invited him to work on the Baha'i Centre project.
